High-Build Epoxy Resin Floor for Blower Room
Introduction
A major UK water supplier required a durable, high-visibility floor system within an operational blower room. The primary objective was to clearly demarcate pedestrian walkways whilst providing long-term protection against wear and chemical exposure in a demanding plant room environment.
Our Solution
UCL Ltd began with thorough surface preparation, removing contamination, dust, and debris before applying dust-suppressed rotational grinding to eliminate old paint and surface laitance. A vacuum-attached grinder minimised airborne particulates throughout. A sealer-primer was applied prior to the high-build epoxy coats, with any floor depressions corrected using mortar at this stage.
Two coats of Staingard High Build Epoxy were applied in green and grey to differentiate walkway zones from operational areas. Staingard conforms to the FeRFA Type 3 definition for synthetic resin floors and carries over 25 years of proven performance in pump and plant room environments. Yellow UV-resistant high-build polyurethane line markings were applied as a final layer to complete the walkway demarcation.
Key Benefits
- FeRFA Type 3 compliant synthetic resin floor system
- Dual-colour epoxy (green and grey) provides clear visual zoning for walkway and operational areas
- Yellow UV-resistant polyurethane line markings for durable, long-term walkway identification
- High chemical resistance suitable for water treatment plant environments
- Dust-suppressed grinding process maintained a safe working environment throughout installation
- Staingard High Build Epoxy carries a 25-year track record in plant room applications
Conclusion
UCL Ltd delivered a compliant, functional flooring system that met both safety and operational requirements for an active water treatment facility. This project demonstrates UCL's capability to specify and install industrial resin floor systems in live, process-critical environments.
