Dancing Hill Reservoir:Concrete Repair and Waterproofing

Introduction

Dancing Hill Reservoir presented with advanced internal concrete degradation, including pitting and spalling, which compromised the structure's watertight integrity. UCL was engaged to undertake a full concrete repair and waterproofing programme to restore structural performance and prepare the reservoir for continued operational service.

Our Solution

UCL carried out a structured surface preparation and waterproofing programme across the reservoir's internal surfaces. All contaminated and compromised concrete was removed to expose a sound substrate, with pitted and spalled areas made good to achieve a consistent, level finish. A proven cementitious waterproofing coating system was then applied across the prepared surfaces, selected for its compatibility with potable water infrastructure and its long-term performance characteristics. The programme was executed efficiently to minimise disruption to the operational asset, with all works carried out in accordance with applicable water industry standards and manufacturer specifications.

Key Benefits

  • Full removal of contaminated and degraded concrete to provide a reliable, sound substrate
  • Consistent internal surface finish achieved, reducing the likelihood of future maintenance interventions
  • Cementitious waterproofing system applied, proven in potable water infrastructure applications
  • Enhanced structural durability and restored watertight integrity
  • Efficient programme delivery, minimising downtime for the operational reservoir

Conclusion

UCL successfully restored Dancing Hill Reservoir's internal concrete and waterproofing to a standard fit for continued service. This project demonstrates UCL's capability in delivering technically robust concrete repair and waterproofing solutions within live water infrastructure environments.
